6-A State Championship Meet Results

Congratulations to the Mill Creek Swim Team for their outstanding performance in the 6A State Championship Meet! The Boys team finished 9th and the Girls team finished 12th. Chris Powell won two State Titles and set new School records in the 50 free (20.66) and 100 free (45.06) in Automatic All-American Time. The 200 free relay team of Andrew Kozlovski, Patrick Lavelle, Garrison Bemis, and Chris Powell placed 2nd with an All-American Consideration Time of 1:26.63. The 400 free relay team of Andrew Kozlovski, Will Jordan, Garrison Bemis and Chris Powell set a new school record with a 7th place time of 3:12.11. The 200 Medley Relay team of Madison Gibson, Corinne Dalley, Katherine Parker and Maddie Wrolson placed 8th in a time of 1:50.48. The 400 free relay team of Kara Powell, Morgan Elliott, Anna Guynes and Cadie Crow placed 8th in a time of 3:39.94. The 200 free relay team of Anna Guynes, Alyson Carroll, Kara Powell and Maddie Wrolson placed 9th in a time of 1:38.82. Anna Guynes placed 9th in the 50 free (24.38) and 11th in the 100 free (53.78). Andrew Kozlovski placed 11th in the 200 free (1:43.29) and 12th in the 100 free (47.92). Cadie Crow placed 13th in the 100 fly (58.35) and 15th in the 100 back (1:01.02). Kara Powell placed 14th in the 50 free (25.10) and 16th in the 100 free (55.19). Garrison Bemis placed 15th in the 50 free (22.35) and 16th in the 100 back (54.61 – new school record!). Maddie Wrolson placed 10th in the 50 free (24.51). Lexi Sachse placed 14th in diving. Congratulations to the entire team for their outstanding spirit, sportsmanship, and effort. Thanks to our booster club and all of the parents that provided food for our athletes during the competition.

6-A State Championship Meet

The 6-A State Championship will be held this weekend, Friday, Feb. 8 and Saturday, Feb. 9 at the Georgia Tech Aquatic Center. There will be a $10.00 admission charge. Parking costs $5. The schedule of sessions is listed below along wth the psych sheet. Relays are subject to change.

Friday, Feb. 8: 6-A Swimming Preliminaries at 6:30 PM. Bus leaves Mill Creek at 3:00 PM.

Saturday, Feb. 9: 6-A Diving at 9:00 AM – Divers Carpool (Warm-ups are from 7:00 AM to 9:00 AM – Boys dive first).

Saturday, Feb. 9: 6-A Swimming Finals at 6:00 PM – Bus leaves Mill Creek at 3:00 PM.

DIRECTIONS: The pool is located at the Georgia Tech Campus Recreation Center Aquatic Center, 750 Ferst Drive, Atlanta, GA 30318.
Take Exit #249D (North Avenue).  At the top of the exit ramp, turn right onto North Avenue.
Cross Techwood Drive (the first light) and continue on North Avenue to Tech Parkway and make a right.
Follow Tech Parkway to the Aquatic Center.

Gwinnett County Championship Meet

Girls’ Swim Team Gwinnett County Champions!!!!!!

Congratulations to the Mill Creek Swim Team for their outstanding performance in the Gwinnett County Championship Meet! The Girls’ Team won their 2nd Gwinnett County Championship! The boys’ team finished 7th and the team finished 2nd overall. Chris Powell set a new County and School record in winning the 100 free with an All-American Consideration Time of 45.58. The 200 free relay team of Andrew Kozlovski, Patrick Lavelle, Garrison Bemis, and Chris Powell set a new County Meet Record and School Record in winning the 200 free relay with an All-American Consideration Time of 1:26.10. Lexi Sachse also set a new school record in winning the 11-dive event with a score of 340.80. Chris Powell also won the 50 free in a time of 21.37. Kara Powell, Alyson Carroll, Anna Guynes, and Maddie Wrolson won the 200 free relay in a time of 1:39.07. The 400 free relay team of Garrison Bemis, Will Jordan, Andrew Kozlovski, and Chris Powell set a new school record with a 2nd place time of 3:12.24. Lexi Sachse – Gwinnett County Diving Champion!!!!!!

Congratulations to the Mill Creek divers for their outstanding performance in the Gwinnett County Diving Championship Meet! Lexi Sachse set a new school record with an 11-dive score of 340.80 and finished FIRST!!!!!! Lexi is Mill Creek’s first female County Diving Champion! Results will be posted soon.

The Gwinnett County Championship Meet will be conducted Wednesday, Jan. 23 through Saturday, Jan. 26. There will be a $3.00 admission charge and heat sheets will be on sale for $5.00. This weekend the Mill Creek Swim Team will take on the Collins Hill Eagles on Friday, January 11, at 7:15 PM at the West Gwinnett Pool. The buses will leave Mill Creek at 5:30 PM. All swimmers and divers are required to ride the bus unless special permission is granted by a coach. Swimmers and divers may ride home with an adult (over 21) driver. Swimmers or divers riding home with an adult must notify the coach at the end of the meet. Swimmers and divers are expected to support the team all the way through the last event (400 Free Relay)!

Congratulations to the Mill Creek Swim Team for their outstanding performance versus in the Clody Swim and Dive Invitational. Lexi Sachse set a new school record in the 11-dive event with a score of 308.00. Team Pictures – Monday, 10 Dec 2012

On Monday, Dec. 10, the Mill Creek Swim Team will have the team picture taken for the yearbook at Bogan Park Pool at approximately 4:30 PM. We ask that all swimmers and divers arrive by 4:15 with their team T-shirts and jeans. We will line up and snap the shot around 4:30. We will also take a senior picture. Envelopes will be handed out during practice providing information about purchasing pictures. If you do not attend swim practices at Bogan Park pool from 4 to 6, then please see Coach Rodgers for an envelope. Magic Touch is the company that will handle the pictures. We will run a regular practice after the picture has been taken. All practices the day before a final exam are considered optional.

On Friday, 7 Dec 2012, the divers will compete in the Clody Diving Invitational at Mountain Park Pool. The doors will open to the divers at 2pm - warmups for girls start at 2:30. The doors will open for spectators at 3 PM. There will be a $3 admission charge for spectators. No folding chairs are allowed. The boys will dive first.

On Saturday, 8 Dec 2012, the team will travel to the West Gwinnett Pool for the Clody Swimming Invitational. The bus will leave Mill Creek at 7:00 AM, Saturday morning. The meet will begin at 9:00 AM and run until approximately 2:00 PM. Swimmers may leave the meet with a parent or guardian after they have completed their last event. Swimmers riding home with a parent or guardian must notify the coach before they leave. The doors will open for spectators at 8 AM. There will be a $3 admission charge for spectators. North Gwinnett Meet – Saturday, 1 Dec 2012 (This reflects a change from our original schedule!)

This weekend the Mill Creek Swim Team will take on the North Gwinnett Bulldogs on Saturday, December 1, at 7:15 PM at the Collins Hill Pool. The buses will leave Mill Creek at 5:45 PM. We have moved the meet from Friday, Nov. 30 at West Gwinnett to Saturday, Dec. 1 at Collin Hill Pool due to Mill Creek and North Gwinnett both having football playoff games scheduled for Nov. 30. The SAT is also scheduled for Saturday morning, so the evening was the only option. We realize that many of you were anticipating watching the SEC Championship football game between UGA and Alabama. If you have a conflict on Saturday evening, please see one of the coahes as soon as possible. We apologize for any inconvenience this may cause. We are certainly proud and excited for our football team for advancing to the quarterfinals of the GHSA 6-A State Football playoffs after our historic win over Brookwood! Thanksgiving Holiday Week Practice Schedule

Swimmers and divers are expected to attend training regularly over the holidays unless out of town. Please try to work your holiday activities around training time. Training over the holidays is critical to success in late January and February. Swimmers and divers that take off significant time over the holidays will find it difficult to regain a competitive edge before the end of the season. Westminster Meet – Tuesday, 6 Nov 2012

The Mill Creek Swim Team will take on the Westminster Wildcats on Tuesday, November 6, at 5:00 PM at Westminster. We realize that this meet is on election day, and we apologize for any inconvenience. The bus will leave Mill Creek at 3:00 PM. The new swim suits will be distributed on the bus. Caps may not be available yet. Coaches will have extra caps from last year for swimmers that don’t have a Mill Creek cap. All swimmers and divers are required to ride the bus unless special permission is granted by a coach. Swimmers and divers may ride home with an adult (over 21) driver. Swimmers or divers riding home with an adult must notify the coach at the end of the meet. Swimmers and divers are expected to support the team all the way through the last event (400 Free Relay)! The meet should end around 6:45 PM. The bus should return to Mill Creek around 8:15 PM. Due to limited entries we will only be able to take 1/2 of the team. We anticipate entering all of the swimmers in the Parkview Meet on Saturday, Nov. 10.

There will be NO swim team practice at Bogan Park on Tuesday, Nov. 6.

Once you pass under the I-75 overpass and cross a small bridge you will see the Westminster Schools entrance on your left. Turn left onto the Westminster Schools campus. Follow the road to the rear of the campus by staying left. The pool is located in the Athletic Complex.

Time Trial Meet

Thursday, November 1, we will have a swimming time trial meet at Bogan Park Pool.

The meet will run during our normal practice time. Warm-ups will begin at 4:00. The meet will begin at 4:15.

Swimmers will be timed in a 50 of each stroke and the 100 Free.

Swimmers must have a physical form on file with the school in order to participate in the time trial meet.

All swimmers are expected to attend unless they have participated in a USS meet this fall.

USS swimmers that have participated in a meet this fall are exempt from time trials.

Swimmers that have a fall activity conflict will be timed at a later date during a regularly scheduled practice.

2012-2013 Swim Team Registration Information

Swim Team registration will be held on Tuesday, Sept. 11, at 6:30 PM in the Mill Creek Commons. At this meeting the coaches will provide information about the program, swimmers and divers will try on suits, and optional spirit wear will be on display. All interested swimmers, divers, and their parents or guardians are encouraged to attend.

Below are the time standards for the 2012 - 2013 Mill Creek Swim Team. Due to the large number of swimmers that historically have expressed interest in swimming at Mill Creek, we have set up time standards. We train in a six-lane pool, so space is limited. We typically swim around 4500 - 5000 yards in a 90 minute workout. A typical summer league team swims around 2000 yards in a 60 minute practice. Meeting the time standards below does not guarantee that you will make the team. We may also keep some swimmers, depending on the numbers, that may be slower than the time standards below. You would not have to meet all of the time standards to participate. For example, you may be strong in breaststroke, but not in backstroke. We take into consideration that some swimmers may be strong in some strokes, but not in others. We will run a time trial meet on Thursday, Nov. 1 during our normal practice time.

Swim Atlanta has a facility at Auburn Road and Dacula Road. The pool is a six-lane, indoor pool. Swim Atlanta will be running a high school practice group everyday from 2:45 to 4:15. The practices will be comparable to our high school practices. A swimmer is allowed to attend either a Swim Atlanta workout or a Mill Creek High School workout. Georgia AAAAA State Championship Meet

Congratulations to the Mill Creek Swim Team for their outstanding performance at the Georgia AAAAA State Championship Meet. The Girls’ team finished 7th and the Boys’ team finished 9th. Rachael Dudley led the way with two individual state championship titles (100 Fly – 54.46, 100 Back – 55.39). Both times are Automatic All-American and new school records! Chris Powell placed 3rd in two events with All-American Consideration times (50 Free – 20.98, 100 Free – 46.22) and set new school records in the 50 Free and 100 Free (45.93 – prelims). Frederique Lefebvre finished 5th in the 200 IM with a new school record (200 IM – 2:06.13) and placed 11th in the 500 Free (500 Free – 5:00.74). A new school record and 3rd place finish was achieved by Chris Powell, Andrew Kozlovski , Bryan Murphy, Garrison Bemis in the 200 Free Relay (200 Free Relay – 1:27.20). AAAAA Georgia State Swimming and Diving Championship Meet

The AAAAA Georgia State Championship Meet will be conducted Friday, Feb. 10 and Saturday, Feb. 11 at the Georgia Tech Aquatic Center. There will be a $10.00 admission charge. Parking costs $5. The schedule of sessions is listed below along wth the psych sheet.

Friday, Feb. 10: AAAAA Swimming Preliminaries at 6:30 PM

Saturday, Feb. 11: AAAAA Swimming Finals at 6:00 PM – Bus leaves Mill Creek at 3:00 PM.

DIRECTIONS: The pool is located at the Georgia Tech Campus Recreation Center Aquatic Center, 750 Ferst Drive, Atlanta, GA 30318.
Take Exit #249D (North Avenue).  At the top of the exit ramp, turn right onto North Avenue.
Cross Techwood Drive (the first light) and continue on North Avenue to Tech Parkway and make a right.

Congratulations to the Swim Team for their outstanding performance this past weekend at the Gwinnett County Championship Meet. The Girls’ team finished 2nd and the Boys’ team finished 3rd. The team finished 2nd overall. Rachael Dudley led the way with two first place finishes (100 Fly – 54.61, 100 Back – 55.89), two Gwinnett County Meet records (100 Fly, 100 Back), three new school records (100 Back, 50 Free, 100 Free), an Automatic All-American time (100 Fly) and an All-American Consideration time (100 Back). Congratulations to the Mill Creek Swim Team for their outstanding performance in the swimming prelims and diving finals. Lexi Sachse set a new school record in the 11-dive event and finished 6th. Chris Powell set two new school records in the 50 and 100 Frees. New school records were also set by Chris Powell, Garrison Bemis, Andrew Kozlovski, Bradley Tarantino in the 200 Free Relay and Chris Powell, Bradley Tarantino, Kevin White, Andrew Kozlovski in the 400 Free Relay. This weekend the Mill Creek Swim Team will take on the Peachtree Ridge Lions and the Dacula Falcons on Saturday, December 17, at 8:00 AM at the Collins Hill Pool. The bus will leave Mill Creek at 6:30 AM.

Team Pictures – Monday, 12 Dec 2011

On Monday, Dec. 12, the Mill Creek Swim Team will have the team picture taken for the yearbook at Bogan Park Pool at approximately 4:20 PM. We ask that all swimmers and divers arrive by 4:00 with their team T-shirts and jeans. We will line up and snap the shot around 4:20. We will also take a senior picture. Envelopes will be handed out during practice providing information about purchasing pictures. If you do not attend swim practices at Bogan Park pool from 4 to 6, then please see Coach Rodgers in room 1.596 for an envelope. Magic Touch is the company that will handle the pictures. We will run a regular practice after the picture has been taken. It is an optional practice since we have 1st period finals the next day. Swimmers and divers are welcome to leave the pool after the picture if they need to get home to study for finals. All practices next week are optional due to final exams.

On Friday, 9 Dec 2011, the divers will compete in the Clody Diving Invitational at Mountain Park Pool. The doors will open to the divers at 2pm - warmups for girls start at 2:30. The doors will open for spectators at 3 PM. There will be a $3 admission charge for spectators. No folding chairs are allowed.

On Saturday, 10 Dec 2011, the team will travel to the West Gwinnett Pool for the Clody Swimming Invitational. The bus will leave Mill Creek at 7:00 AM, Saturday morning. The meet will begin at 9:00 AM and run until approximately 2:00 PM. Swimmers may leave the meet with a parent or guardian after they have completed their last event. Swimmers riding home with a parent or guardian must notify the coach before they leave. The doors will open for spectators at 8 AM. There will be a $3 admission charge for spectators. No folding chairs are allowed.

This weekend the Mill Creek Swim Team will compete in two swim meets: Wesleyan on Friday and North Gwinnett on Saturday.

On Friday, 2 Dec 2011, the team will travel to take on the Wesleyan Wolves. The bus will leave Mill Creek at 3:15 PM. The meet will begin at 5:00 PM and run until approximately 7:00 PM. Due to limited entries we will only be able to take approximately 1/2 the team (similar to the Westminster Meet). Wesleyan is located in Norcross off of Hwy. 141. Take Peachtree Industrial South toward West Gwinnett Pool. Turn right onto South Old Peachtree. South Old Peachtree changes name to Spalding Drive. Turn right onto Peachtree Parkway NW (Hwy. 141). The entrance to the school and the pool will be immediately on your right.

This weekend the Mill Creek Swim Team will take on the Parkview Panthers on Saturday, November 12, at 7:15 PM at West Gwinnett Pool. The bus will leave Mill Creek at 5:30 PM. Westminster Meet – Tuesday, 8 Nov 2011

The Mill Creek Swim Team will take on the Westminster Wildcats on Tuesday, November 8, at 5:00 PM at Westminster. The bus will leave Mill Creek at 3:00 PM. Swimmers and divers should bring a snack, team suit and wear their team t-shirt. The new swim caps will be distributed on the bus. All swimmers and divers are required to ride the bus unless special permission is granted by a coach. Swimmers and divers may ride home with an adult (over 21) driver. Swimmers or divers riding home with an adult must notify the coach at the end of the meet. Swimmers and divers are expected to support the team all the way through the last event (400 Free Relay)! The meet should end around 6:45. The bus should return to Mill Creek around 8:30 PM. Due to limited entries we will only be able to take 1/2 of the team. There will be NO swim team practice at Bogan Park on Tuesday, Nov. 8.

Directions to Westminster: Take I-85 south to I-75 North. Exit West Paces Ferry Road. Turn left off the ramp and then turn left onto West Paces Ferry Road. Once you pass under the I-75 overpass and cross a small bridge you will see the Westminster Schools entrance on your left. Turn left onto the Westminster Schools campus. Follow the road to the rear of the campus by staying left. The pool is located in the Athletic Complex.

Time Trial Meet

Thursday, October 27, we will have a swimming time trial meet at Bogan Park Pool.

The meet will run during our normal practice time. Warm-ups will begin at 4:00. The meet will begin at 4:15.

Swimmers will be timed in a 50 of each stroke and the 100 Free.

Swimmers must have a physical form on file with the school in order to participate in the time trial meet.

All swimmers are expected to attend unless they have participated in a USS meet this fall.

USS swimmers that have participated in a meet this fall are exempt from time trials.

Swimmers that have a fall activity conflict will be timed at a later date during a regularly scheduled practice.

Anyone interested in swimming or diving for Mill Creek should see Coach Rodgers in room 1.596 or Coach Creed in Trailer 41. Swim Team registration was held on Tuesday, September 13, 2011. Swimming and diving practice will begin on Monday, October 17. Swimmers and divers must have a completed physical form on file with the school before participation. Physical forms should be submitted to Laura Dunnigan in office 1.185 (inside the gym) before the first day of practice.

Swim Team Registration Information

Swim Team registration will be held on Tuesday, Sept. 13, at 6:30 PM in the Mill Creek Commons.

Below are the time standards for the 2011 - 2012 Mill Creek Swim Team. Due to the large number of swimmers that historically have expressed interest in swimming at Mill Creek, we have set up time standards. We train in a six-lane pool, so space is limited. We typically swim around 4500 - 5000 yards in a 90 minute workout. A typical summer league team swims around 2000 yards in a 60 minute practice. Meeting the time standards below does not guarantee that you will make the team. We may also keep some swimmers, depending on the numbers, that may be slower than the time standards below. You would not have to meet all of the time standards to participate. For example, you may be strong in breaststroke, but not in backstroke. We take into consideration that some swimmers may be strong in some strokes, but not in others. We will run a time trial meet on Thursday, Oct. 27 during our normal practice time.

Swim Atlanta has opened a facility at Auburn Road and Dacula Road. The pool is a six-lane, indoor pool. Swim Atlanta will be running a high school practice group everyday from 2:45 to 4:15. The practices will be comparable to our high school practices. A swimmer is allowed to attend either a Swim Atlanta workout or a Mill Creek High School workout. Georgia 5A State Championship Meet: Saturday, 12 Feb 2011

Congratulations to the Mill Creek Swim Team for their outstanding performance at the Georgia State 5A Swimming Championship Meet on Saturday, 12 Feb 2011 at the Georgia Tech Aquatic Center. The Girls team finished THIRD and the Boys team finished TENTH! Sommers Creed (200 Free – 1:49.94, 500 Free – 4:52.83) and Rachael Dudley (100 Fly – 54.52) captured individual state titles and achieved Automatic All-American standards! Gwinnett County Diving Championship Meet – Wednesday, 26 Jan 2011

Congratulations to our divers for their outstanding performance at the Gwinnett County Diving Championship Meet. Lexi Sachse qualified for STATE with a new Mill Creek school record score of 278.70 and placed 10^th. Lexi is the first Mill Creek female diver to ever qualify for state. Jacqi Mills placed 22^nd with 196.15 points, Nicole Foust placed 25^th with 183.55 points, and Saige Fetters placed 29^th with 163.70 points. Congratulations to all of our divers for improving so much during the course of the season! A special thanks to Coach Megan White for all that she has done for the divers this season! The results of the Gwinnett County Diving Championship Meet are posted below. The Boys’ Preliminary Swimming Meet will be conducted on Thursday at West Gwinnett Pool at 5:00 PM. The Girls’ Swimming Preliminary Meet will be conducted on Friday at West Gwinnett Pool at 5:00 PM. The Swimming Finals for both genders will be conducted on Saturday at West Gwinnett Pool at 5:00 PM.

Modified Holiday Practice Schedule

The holiday training schedule has been modified due to today’s large turnout. It is posted below. Swimmers and divers are expected to attend training regularly unless out of town. Please try to work your holiday activities around training time. Training over the holidays is critical to success in late January and February. Swimmers and divers that take off significant time over the holidays will find it difficult to regain a competitive edge before the end of the season. If you are going out of town and you expect to miss significant training time, please request workouts from a coach. We hope that everyone has a safe and Happy Holiday!

Congratulations to the Swim Team for their outstanding performance at the 5A State Championship Meet. The girls team finished THIRD and brought home their first state trophy. The boys’ team finished 10th.

Individual state titles were won by Sommers Creed (500 Free) and Rachael Dudley (100 Fly) both in Automatic All-American time. New school records were set by Rachael Dudley (100 Fly), Sommers Creed (200 Free) and Katie Evans (100 Breast).

Thanks to all of the parents that volunteered to work the meet. I wish everyone could have seen the joy on the faces of the Girls’ team when it was announced that they had finished THIRD! Congratulations to the Swim Team for their outstanding performance at the Gwinnett County Championship Meet. The girls team captured the school’s FIRST County Meet Championship edging out Brookwood 1037 to 1033. Brookwood had won 10 out of the last 11 county meet girls’ titles. The Brookwood girls had not lost the County Meet since 2002 when Parkview took the title. The boys’ also performed extremely well and finished THIRD, only 15 points behind 2nd place Brookwood! The team displayed tremendous team spirit and sportsmanship. Every swimmer and diver stepped up and had an outstanding meet! Earning Automatic All-American recognition were Rachael Dudley (100 Fly), Sommers Creed (500 Free), and Frederique Lefebvre, Katie Evans, Rachael Dudley, Sommers Creed (200 Medley Relay).
